FAQ’s
What size smoker do I need?
It really depends on what you are doing – both today and in the future. In our experience, when people are starting out, they buy smaller models because of the lower cost. However, it takes a very little time to realize you can always cook LESS on a bigger smoker – but you can’t cook MORE on a smaller smoker. Once you begin to see the award winning results, it’s not long before you start looking for a higher capacity smoker because your friends and family can’t get enough of your incredible BBQ! The best way to know is to ask questions, really do your homework, be honest with yourself on what you are going to use it for, and then try it out. Asking in the facebook or other forums as well can help you choose what you need.
Your smokers seem to be much higher in price than the smokers I can get at my local big box or hardware store...why?
Well, you’re absolutely right! The reason being is that these specialty manufacturers are NOT an assembly line operation. Generally, each and every smoker is hand made to specifications. Said differently, they don’t flip a switch in the morning and churn out smoker after smoker. They put endless hours, into the production of each and every smoker, using their tried and true methods. So when you get your smoker, you’re getting a genuine custom crafted product! The team looks at the specs, creates the unit from raw materials in stock, and coordinates all of the shipping and delivery in house. Our suppliers pride themselves on high quality crafted smokers that customers will have for years to come.
Called to order my unit, and you told me that it may be a month or more, why is this?
During the busy season, which is typically April – October (and Christmas), they’re producing smokers nonstop. Now that being said, they’re committed to getting these smokers built right and each smoker takes time, which can create a backlog. We will be open and honest with you, relative to the wait time for your smoker.
Can these smokers be used indoors?
To use any smoker inside, you will need to have a hood vent system that can blow the smoke and heat exhaust from the stack outdoors. We do not recommend doing ANY kind of cooking inside without proper ventilation equipment to do so.
Can these smokers be mounted on a trailer?
YES!! If you visit the various forums, you’ll understand how people have mounted their smokers, and the creativity that’s been used. As you can imagine, the options are almost endless, and the forums are the best resource to see examples of how others have done it.
Are any of your smokers designated with an NSF approval?
Yes, ONLY certain Cookshack and Fast Eddys products are NSF approved – (NSF 4 Issued: 2014/03/30 Revision: 2014/10/01 Commercial Cooking, Rethermalization and Powered Hot Food Holding and Transport Equipment).
Can you mount it on a trailer for me, or better yet, build a custom trailer for me?
We work with several manufacturers that offer this kind of solution.
What are the dimensions of these smokers?
If you look underneath each smoker’s description you’ll find the dimensions and weight, and capacity information outlined out for you.
I live in Illinois and want to pick up my smoker from your warehouse...what are your hours of operation?
We always welcome the opportunity to have you visit us! Given the labor challenges associated with COVID, we will be open Monday-Friday, 930am to 5pm. However, it’s always best to contact us if you’re wanting to check available inventory and hours.
Weekend appointments must be scheduled in advance, and at least 24 hours notice for any warehouse pickup of grills and smokers.
Do I have to pay sales tax?
Yes…if you’re a resident of Illinois or purchase anything at our shop, you’re subject to 8% sales tax.
I realize I have to pay an additional cost, to cover the freight and crating of these smokers since they're manufactured elswhere in the US, and shipped LTL (less than truck load) to you...but how much is that additional cost?
The costs associated with freight and crating varies by the type of smoker, weight, and class. We will gladly provide you with an accurate freighting/crating cost, based in large part on your delivery requirements.
I live out of state..can you ship it to me?
Yes, we’ll ship anywhere in the US!! Rates for crating/shipping will be based upon delivery destination. Rates are higher for residential delivery due to the need for a lift gate truck, vs. a commercial (business) delivery where a loading dock is normally used.
What smokers do you have in stock?
We currently have a variety of models in stock and ready for pick up or shipping. We know that buying a smoker is a big decision, particularly when you’re spending more than a few hundred dollars. We want to make sure you get the right smoker, that fits your specific needs. Any of our smokers, when properly cared for, will last a lifetime. We’ll answer all of your questions, and help you find the perfect model – whether it’s cooking in the backyard, competing in local and national BBQ contests, catering or commercial cooking.
What kind of warranty will I get when I purchase a smoker from Smokin' Deal BBQ?
We offer the manufacturers limited warranty, which covers all materials, parts (thermostat, grills, hinges, latches, fire pan, and water pan) and workmanship when used under normal conditions. This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser and is not transferable. This warranty does not cover damage caused by abuse, neglect or accident.
What method of payment can I use?
We accept electronic bank transfer/payment, cash, money order or certified checks. Paypal is also available. If you wish to use a credit/rewards or debit card, a fee will be added to the total transaction cost. Personal or company checks accepted – but will be held for 7 days to allow for funds to clear before any pick up or delivery can be scheduled. Our preferred method of payment is Zelle Payments! Why, because they don’t charge additional fees to the sender or receiver!

About California Proposition 65
Proposition 65, officially the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a law that requires warnings be provided to California consumers when they might be exposed to chemicals identified by California as causing cancer or reproductive toxicity. The warnings are intended to help California consumers make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals from the products they use. The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) administers the Proposition 65 program and publishes the listed chemicals, which includes more that 850 chemicals. In August 2016, OEHHA adopted new regulations, effective on August 30, 2018, which change the information required in Proposition 65 warnings.
